Solution: If you use the HDMI port on DVR and HDMI cable to connect DVR to a monitor/display/TV, please try the VGA port on DVR and use the VGA cable. If you use a VGA connection, please try the HDMI connection. Also, please use another HDMI/VGA cable to have a try.
However in the last 1/2 hr, found a most annoying issue, my new Dahua player is not recording motion, even when set, I just see 24/7 recording, no yellow bits etc to show when motion was, that's with the Dahua and Hikvision cameras, only cameras purely set to motion only are showing the motion bits.
I decided to try out a Dahua NVR for a new remote storage location we have, I fear I may have purchased an NVR not up to the challenge or I am just being a noob which would be the better outcome. The model is Dahua NVR4108HS-8P-4KS2 8CH 4K&H.265 Lite Network Video Recorder with 8PoE Ports. I have added 6x 2mp starlight cameras to the system.
The Hikvision cameras automatically configure with the Hikvision NVR. Their IP settings are 192.168.254.x, but their gateway IP is 192.168.1.1 – different subnet. I have figured out the settings for the Dahua cameras (only major change is using ONVIF on port 80, instead of 8000), but the Dahua config doesn’t allow me to set the gateway on a

Presumably plugged in to a PoE port. In the NVR web GUI, camera Configuration, note down the IP address of the channel you'd like to plug the camera in to. And change the channel to 'Manual' from Plug and Play. Access the camera web GUI to change the camera IP address to match.
Houston Tx. May 10, 2019. #2. The IP address of the cameras change when connected and added to the nvr. The IP address of a camera on the nvr Poe port normally starts with 10.x.x.x. Delete the cameras from the nvr. Plug one camera in at a time and wait for the nvr to find and configure the camera. P.
However this will work for individual Dahua IP cameras see the OG post for details. After spending a good deal of time trying to connect to an XVR and piecing posts together, I figured I would make this write up and share. This should work with any Dahua DVR, XVR, or NVR that has a browser interface as this program leverages the same API.
